When considering purchasing a new pulsed EMF  therapy device. , there are several factors to consider. One important factor is the intensity levels offered by the equipment. This is crucial as it determines the effectiveness of the workout. Another factor is the size and portability of the equipment. It is necessary to ensure that it can fit in the available space and be easily moved if required. Additionally, checking the warranty provided by the manufacturer is essential to protect against any potential malfunctions. Lastly, reading user reviews can provide valuable insights into the equipment’s performance and durability. 

A. Frequency range

Most devices produce waveforms in the 20-30 Hz range. You can see some devices go from .1 to as high as 1000 Hz. If you look at the medical studies done, the frequency used is typically less than 500 Hz. I have not found any research that says any frequency is better than another. Many feel that the ideal frequency is similar to the frequency that the Earth put out which is 33.8 Hz. Also known as Schumann Resonance.


B. Wave Form

Some manufacturers such as Bemer spend a lot of time talking about the special waveform that their device produces. But, in my research, no medical study has validated that one waveform is better than another. I wouldn’t worry about what waveform a vendor has.

 C. Intensity levels

Intensity level on the other hand is important. I suggest you look for a device that has an intensity of about 3 Gauss. This intensity is enough to allow the waveform to reach well into your body. Some devices are well below that such as Bemer which has a max intensity of 0.35 Gauss. The HealthyLine devices produce 3 Gauss and are one of the devices I recommend. So, I would look carefully at the intensity level of a device before you purchase.


D. Program options

I think manufacturers that talk about all their program options on their device controllers are just a bunch of marketing nonsense. If you look at the medical research that is being performed across the world, none of the researchers are concerned about varying the waveform or pemf settings. If they are not concerned, I wouldn’t be either.


E. Size and portability

This is important I think because it goes to usability. If the device does not fit into your life style and is comfortable, you will not use it. I think the most important factor in picking a mat is finding one that you will use. It is like exercise equipment, you can have the best but if you don’t use it, you have wasted your money.


F.  Warranty and customer support

To me, this is the best tell-tale of what device is made the best and the manufacturer thinks it will work for a long time with issues. If the manufacturer has a 6-month warranty on the controller or mat, they have calculated that there are few breakdowns in that time frame but after that, they think the risk is too high to offer a warranty during that time frame.

So, I would look for a manufacturer that has a 3-year or more warranty.

This is my favorite mat of all the mats that I have reviewed. In fact, I purchased one for myself and one for each of my kids. I like it because I don’t have to set aside time to use it, I can use it when I am watching tv, working on my computer, or even eating dinner. It is a very portable pemf device. It has 3 Gauss intensity, which I said was in the good range. The pemf machine also has far infrared therapy which most of the popular mats do not have. It comes with a 1-year warranty but they have an optional 5-year warranty. And the best part is that it lists for $549. The lower-priced mat is great. 

If you are thinking of trying out an infrared mat, they have a 90-day no questions asked return policy. That is the best return policy on the market and there is no restocking fee.

They also have a full size Healthyline mat, in fact, they have nearly 100 devices to choose from. More than all the other vendors combined. HealthyLine is my number one recommended pemf mat. I think they are the best pemf mats on the market. I would purchase their infrared pemf mat if the areas of the body that you wanted to treat were not covered by the chair.


B. Bemer 

These are very popular full-body mats and you often see them in a chiropractor’s office that offers pulsed electromagnetic field therapy. They are sold via a multi-level marketing model, so the prices are really high. The list price is $4,200 with only a 30-day return policy with a 10% restocking fee. It has only a 6-month warranty on the controller and the maximum magnetic field intensity is 0.35, way under what I recommend. And the fact that it is a full-body mat, you have to set aside time to lie on it. And from the reviews I have read and my actual use of the Bemer therapy, I don’t see how you can justify the cost for such a low-powered device. They do not make the best pemf machines.

C. BioBalance

BioBalance is another popular full-body pemf therapy device designed for home use. It lists for $2,450 with only 30-day return policy with a 10% restocking fee. It comes with one year warranty. The price is higher than the HealthyLine mat but only comes with pemf therapy whereas the Healthly Line device has 5 therapies.

D. HigherDose

They are newcomers to high-end pemf devices, they claim. but I think differently. As far as I can tell they started selling in the fall of 2022, so they are a relative newcomer to the high-end pemf market. The company was started by two very smart marketers, hence their success. But, they are not a manufacturer. They white-label a common pemf product.  They state that their “heaters” produce 0.2-0.8 milligauss. I am guessing they are referring to the intensity of the PEMF. If so, this is a very low value. If it is not then they do not disclose the intensity of their PEMF device like most manufacturers do. For me, that is a red flag because intensity is an important factor in picking a magnetic therapy device. For that reason, I would not classify them as high-end or an effective pemf device. Since they are a relative newcomer to pemf, I would not recommend purchasing one of their devices. They are priced at $1,295, half of a BioBalace or just a little more than a comparable Healthline pulsed magnetic device. I would not so it is one of the best devices you find on the market today.
